Now in its 17th year, CANstruction has grown into one of Food Bank of Alaska’s largest food drives of the year and is expected to bring in more than 23,731 cans to support Alaskans facing hunger.
Watch the action as teams race the clock to transform thousands of cans into massive, freestanding structures. The public is welcome to stop by and view the builds in progress.
Completed CANstructures will remain on display at Dimond Center for nearly two weeks, between April 11-23. Visitors are encouraged to explore the exhibit and vote for their favorite for the People’s Choice Award.

CANstruction® is an international design-build competition that blends creativity and compassion, turning canned food into large-scale art that helps stock shelves across Alaska. Each structure is built within a 10-foot square and judged on design, structural ingenuity, and use of labels.
