In the face of this devastation, Alaskans once again showed up for one another.
Food Bank of Alaska is serving as the primary donation warehouse for food and water during this emergency response. Our team has been working around the clock to move supplies into the region and to support shelters caring for families who were evacuated to Anchorage and nearby areas.
Food Bank of Alaska is working closely with the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC), Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters (VOAD), and Feeding America to ensure resources reach the people who need them most. This coordinated approach allows us to respond quickly while supporting our local partners who know their communities best.
Thanks to these partnerships, we’ve been able to deploy disaster food boxes, TEFAP commodities, and bottled water to affected areas. Emergency shelters have meals covered, and our focus now turns toward outreach and recovery efforts in the days ahead.
As the state’s designated food and water donation warehouse, Food Bank of Alaska is receiving, sorting, and distributing supplies that will either remain in Anchorage for displaced families or be transported to communities across Western Alaska depending on need and accessibility.
Every donation—whether financial, food, or in-kind—helps fill critical gaps and sustain long-term recovery. These efforts make an immediate difference, getting food and clean water to families who have lost so much.
The road to recovery will take time, but Alaskans know how to stand together through hardship. Financial donations are the most effective way to help us respond quickly to changing needs and support long-term rebuilding across affected communities.

“Thank you to everyone who has jumped headfirst into this response and ensured we are there for those who need us,” said Cara Durr, Chief Executive Officer of Food Bank of Alaska. “We know some of our own team members and partners are personally impacted by these events. Please continue to take care of yourselves and each other.” 🧡
We’re deeply grateful for the compassion and resilience that define Alaska. In moments like these, community is everything—and your support keeps hope moving forward.
