Food Bank of Alaska Selected for 2026 Anchorage Mayor’s Charity Ball

Food Bank of Alaska is honored to be selected as a beneficiary of the 2026 Anchorage Mayor’s Charity Ball, taking place Saturday, October 10, at the Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center.

This marks the first time Food Bank of Alaska has been selected as a recipient since 2018. We’re grateful for another opportunity to join Anchorage businesses, community leaders, and supporters for an evening that invests directly in local nonprofit organizations.

What Is the Anchorage Mayor’s Charity Ball?

The Anchorage Mayor’s Charity Ball is an annual black-tie fundraising event that has supported local nonprofits since 1994. Each year, four organizations are selected to receive the event’s net proceeds.

Food Bank of Alaska joins the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts, Alaska Dive Search Rescue and Recovery, and FISH as the 2026 beneficiaries.

The evening includes a reception, dinner, silent and live auctions, and dancing. Guests can learn more about each selected charity while bidding on Alaska experiences, local art, travel packages, dining opportunities, and other donated items.

Since its beginning, the Anchorage Mayor’s Charity Ball has raised more than $4.5 million and supported more than 78 nonprofit organizations.

Help Us Build Our Silent Auction

Each beneficiary is responsible for creating silent auction packages that will be featured during the event. That is where we need our community’s help.

Food Bank of Alaska is accepting in-kind donations through August 31. Businesses and individuals can contribute:

  • Gift cards
  • Alaska experiences or excursions
  • Restaurant and hotel packages
  • Airline miles or travel opportunities
  • Artwork and locally made products
  • Event tickets
  • Outdoor gear
  • Themed gift baskets
  • Other new merchandise or services

Donated items may be featured individually or combined with other contributions to create larger auction packages. The more creative and compelling the packages are, the more they can raise to support our work.

To donate an item, email Daniel Bentle at dbentle@foodbankofalaska.org.

Volunteer Behind the Scenes

We’re also looking for a small group of volunteers to help prepare our auction packages.

Volunteers may help pick up donated items around Anchorage, organize contributions, assemble baskets, and prepare packages for display at the event. This is a fun, short-term opportunity for anyone who enjoys event planning, gift wrapping, or making things look polished.

To volunteer with auction pickups or packaging, email Daniel Bentle at dbentle@foodbankofalaska.org and let us know how you would like to help.

Attend the 2026 Mayor’s Charity Ball

The 2026 Anchorage Mayor’s Charity Ball will begin at 5:30pm Saturday, October 10, at the Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center.

Guests can attend by requesting individual tickets or reserving a sponsored table. Learn more about the evening and attendance options at mayorscharity.org/the-ball.

Whether you donate an auction item, volunteer behind the scenes, or join us at the event, your support will help turn one special evening into meaningful support for our neighbors.
