Food Bank of Alaska is proud to announce the promotion of Rebecca Guyer to Chief Programs Officer.
Rebecca stepped into the role on July 1, 2026, and now leads Food Bank of Alaska’s statewide programs and partnerships. Her work will focus on strengthening community relationships, expanding food access and building sustainable systems that better serve Alaskans experiencing food insecurity.
Growing With Food Bank of Alaska
Rebecca joined Food Bank of Alaska in January 2019 and has held four roles within the organization, most recently serving as Director of Programs.
Over the past seven years, she has worked across nearly every part of our program operations, including direct service, partner agency relations, statewide outreach and emergency food distribution during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Rebecca has been a steady and thoughtful leader through some of the most complex years in Food Bank of Alaska’s history,” said Cara Durr, Chief Executive Officer of Food Bank of Alaska. “Her experience, relationships and deep understanding of Alaska’s food system make her the right person to lead our programs into this next chapter.”
Building Stronger Programs and Partnerships
Rebecca’s experience has given her a broad view of how Food Bank of Alaska’s work reaches individuals, families and communities across the state.
“Over my time at Food Bank of Alaska, I’ve been fortunate to see our work from many angles,” Rebecca said. “I’m most proud of helping build and strengthen our team, fostering partnerships across the state and expanding our reach in rural Alaska to increase access to food.”
As Chief Programs Officer, Rebecca’s priorities include strengthening program infrastructure, deepening relationships with partner agencies and expanding neighbor choice so Alaskans can access foods that align with their preferences, cultures and needs.
“I’m excited to continue building on the strong foundation we’ve created,” she said. “I’m especially focused on finding innovative ways to serve Alaskans in rural communities and creating sustainable systems that position Food Bank of Alaska and our partners for long-term success.”
Leadership rooted in learning
Rebecca has completed Feeding America’s LevelUp! Food Bank Leadership Development Program and the Dale Carnegie Leadership Training for Managers, where she received the Innovation Presentation Award for highest achievement.
She also holds a ServSafe Manager certification and has presented at national anti-hunger conferences, sharing lessons and best practices with food bank leaders from across the country.
Outside of work, Rebecca enjoys spending time with her family, cheering on her nephew at soccer and baseball games and getting lost in a good book.
